Week 10
Project Prototype: Part 2
I have added more specific content to my project prototype. I specifically fleshed out the math portion of the website’s content. This section of the website is representative of what the entire website will look like. The language arts portion and 1st grade section will have very similar formats. While I did not include working links for additional online resources, I placed a marker to indicate that they will direct to future links. As I continue to make progress on this project, I will explore more specific design ideas, such as color and text. I want to make this website as user friendly as possible so that parents can take full advantage of these resources. When I am finished with the prototype, I will be asking the Kindergarten teachers to review it and gather their feedback through a survey. The feedback that I will seek from them will be related to the content as well as the website’s overall look and ease of use.

Project Prototype : Part 1
I took quite a bit of time to decide how to present my project prototype. Since I am creating a website, I was not sure how to best represent my project. I knew that it would be different from a storyboard format, since I was not creating a video and it would not have a linear format. I considered creating a series of flow charts, but I felt that that would constrict the information I wanted to share. I finally settled on using PowerPoint to create a series of pages that represent each page of my website. I also took advantage of the hyperlink feature of PowerPoint by creating links to the corresponding pages within the presentation. I like this format best because it most closely resembles the essence of the final product. My first submission of my prototype is simply a framework and generally represents the format of the website and the major topics for each web page. Next week, I plan on meeting with the SME’s at my school site (the other kindergarten teachers) to gather their input regarding the specific content. The project prototype that I will submit next week will contain the specific content that will be on the final product.
